United Nations General Assembly: Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL) | Beginner
What is SPECPOL ?
A UN committee that addresses issues related to decolonization, self-determination, and political
conflicts in various regions of the world.
TOPIC:
The Exploitation of Natural Resources in Africa
Delegates should collaborate together to discuss the wealth of the African continent which has been
stolen by colonizers, and this has yet to be stopped. For decades Europeans have been exploiting the
many natural resources from diamonds to precious metals, even crude oil. The effects of colonialism
still haunt the continent till modern times making the rich continent poor. The issue has been ongoing
for decades with little improvement observed in the economies of the African countries. The urgency of
this matter shouldn’t be overlooked. Neocolonialism has prevented this continent from thriving and
reaching its true potential, but that doesn't mean we can’t change it. The prosperous future of Africa
can become a reality.
